A Direction for Our Future

Adopted by the Board of Directors, the 2026-2028 AACVPR Strategic Plan aims to advance cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation through strategic innovation, evidence-based practice, and expanded access to care.

Strategic Goal #1: Awareness and Engagement 

AACVPR will strengthen its role as the professional home for CR/PR and raise awareness of the value of CR/PR among patients, clinicians, and the public.

Professional Home for CR/PR

Create belonging and value through biennial member surveys, expanded emerging professional initiatives, virtual communities of practice, and enhanced volunteer recognition pathways.

Elevate CR/PR Awareness

Raise visibility through enhanced media and digital presence, comprehensive digital hub with patient stories and infographics, and strategic partnerships with patient-facing organizations.

 

 

Strategic Goal #2: Innovation and Program Excellence

AACVPR will drive innovation in CR/PR delivery and support program sustainability through workforce development, financial viability, and advocacy, ensuring programs remain adaptive and effective as the field evolves.

Advance Innovative Delivery Models

Launch professional certificate in virtual/hybrid delivery, establish certification pathways for hybrid/virtual programs, and develop practical implementation toolkits and case studies.

Strengthen Program Sustainability

Deliver business foundations education covering management principles and P&L operations, provide advocacy tools to demonstrate program value, and explore AI-driven resource access solutions.

Advocate for Supporting Policies

Champion legislation for expanded coverage and reimbursement, lead efforts for site-neutral payment models and permanent virtual delivery, and mobilize coordinated grassroots campaigns

 

 

Strategic Goal #3: Science and Outcomes

AACVPR will advance and disseminate evidence demonstrating the value and impact of CR/PR through research, outcomes measurement, and strategic collaboration.

  • Reenvision Scientific Infrastructure to support research, scientific statements, and evidence dissemination, creating a more efficient and impactful scientific enterprise. 
  • Foster a robust research network to expand research capacity and attract the next generation of CR/PR investigators. 
    Provide programs with tools, strategies, and education needed to improve performance measurement and patient centered outcomes.
